ECHO was established in 2010 to promote the renovation and development of the magnificent ballroom and its associated rooms and facilities on the first floor of Eccles Town Hall.

ECHO is an independent community group which has negotiated a 25 year lease from Salford City Council. It is formally constituted and governed and is seeking charitable status. Meetings are advertised locally and convened in a committee room in the Town Hall.

The immediate objective of the organisation is to obtain funds to refurbish the ballroom, balcony, stage and adjacent areas so that they can provide high quality facilities for local community groups. Once this is accomplished, the organisation will then manage the space to ensure that its purpose and values are maintained and its future safeguarded for the benefit of everybody in the local community.

Our Business Plan includes the following aims:

  • Encourage community ownership

  • Reflect local needs

  •  Work with local and regional organisations

  • Promote, develop and sustain the hall

  • Cherish the old town hall’s place in local history

The ballroom has an excellent sprung floor - ideal for local dancing and theatre groups - and space for meetings and exhibitions, for recitals and demonstrations. A café is planned and there will be catering facilities for larger functions.
